12 NYC neighborhoods. 12 teams of producers. 12 hours to produce a dope original track, completely from scratch, based on the sounds of the street. Think Iron Chef, but with the secret ingredient being car horns instead of eggplant.
From 11am – 2pm on Sunday, June 21, twelve small mobile recording studios will record and remix the sounds of neighborhoods, as part of FSN’s first-ever Street Studio City project, in collaboration with Make Music New York. On sidewalks from Corona to Hunts Point to Fort Greene, each Street Studio is run by a team of producers/DJs/
The producers then loop, remix and orchestrate these sounds, creating original pieces of music that reflect that one particular neighborhood on one particular day. That evening everyone who participated (or who is receiving this invite, wink wink) is invited an After Party and Listening session – what we’re calling the “Street Studio Smackdown.” From 8:30-10 we’ll listen to the street studio tracks recorded and mixed that very day, and afterwards there’ll be a dance party DJ’d by the Street Studio producers.
To participate in the recording/street studio part of this event, find a street studio near you here: http://makemusicny.org/
